  • Daniel M. Casto is an attorney with Atwill, Troxell & Leigh, P.C.  Dan’s practice areas include corporate law, mergers & acquisitions, business ownership and management succession planning, venture capital, finance, and general employment matters.  In addition to being an attorney, Dan is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Inactive in West Virginia. 

    Dan was formerly a Principal in the Tyson's Corner, Virginia office of Offit Kurman, P.C. where Dan served as an advisor and partner to clients on matters related to corporate and business law, securities issuances and disclosure requirements, commercial transactions, taxation, financial regulatory, education regulatory, and government affairs. Dan was previously Vice President, Associate General Counsel & SEC Reporting at American Public Education, Inc. (Nasdaq: APEI), parent company of American Public University System and Hondros College of Nursing. Dan previously served as a Senior Associate in the Financial Institutions Practice Group in WilmerHale's Washington, D.C. office. Prior to joining WilmerHale, Dan served as the Legislative Director in the office of then Congresswoman (now Senator) Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV). Dan was also a Corporate/General Practice Associate at the law firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP. Prior to attending law school Dan served as an Accountant with the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Bureau of the Public Debt.
